Several mass transportation providers have specific regulations regarding travel with Segway PTs. Some providers treat them as baggage or an assistive device, others do not. In general, the lithium-ion batteries on Segway i2 SE and x2 SE are considered hazardous material and are not allowed on commercial passenger airlines. Still, you can ship your Segway PT anywhere by ground. Check with your local transit provider for more information.

Yes. The PT is sealed to allow it to operate in wet weather. Just be careful as slippery surfaces can be hazardous. Keep in mind that the unit is not designed to withstand being submerged in water. Therefore, you should avoid exposing the PT to heavy downpours and extended periods of heavy rain.

Yes. Each InfoKey controller can be locked in the beginner setting by pressing a special sequence of buttons. You can also set the beginner setting speed, standard setting speed and ‘off’ time for standby mode. Further customization is possible by programming the InfoKey controller at the Segway factory. Programming each InfoKey controller separately is an additional service offered to customers that can be quoted per account by your local dealer.

Yes. Shipping Segway PT batteries requires that you be 'hazmat' certified. All major shipping companies are qualified to ship hazmat material appropriately and safely. Contact your local dealer/distributor for assistance.

No. We only manufacture SE products. These include the Segway PT i2 SE and x2 SE.

Yes. Segway sets weight limits for rider safety and to reduce the risk of damage to a Segway PT. A rider must not be less than 100 lbs. (45 kg). The PT's maximum payload (which includes the rider and all cargo) is 260 lbs. (117 kg). The total weight of any handlebar cargo plus any additional attachments hanging from the handlebar should not exceed 10 lbs. (4.5 kg).

Each Ninebot by Segway self-balancing vehicle undergoes actual driving tests conducted by testers before it leaves the factory to make sure that it meets Ninebot by Segway’s quality standards. Therefore, there may be some grinding marks on the pedals and the joints connecting to the upright post, or you may find some slight markings on the tire and the mileage reading is not zero (1 km-15 km). Please do not worry as it is actually a new vehicle. We are simply doing our best to ensure your safety.

After the firmware is updated, power on the vehicle, press the lock button on the remote control and place the vehicle in a horizontal position, i.e. a position that makes the pedal board parallel to the ground. It is normal for the vehicle alarm to sound during this movement. Straighten the vehicle and press the ON button on the remote control four times and you will then hear a beep. Press the speed limit button and you will hear another beep in about five to eight seconds. Release the button where you will hear three continuous beeps in about three seconds and this indicates that the vehicle has been calibrated successfully. You’d just need to switch the vehicle off and on again. One calibration may not be successful so try a few times if necessary.

① Connect the unit with the Ninebot by Segway App ② Choose “other settings” > ”attitude calibration” ③ After updating firmware, put the unit upside down, turn on the unit, wait until you hear the sound “di-di” ④ The unit has been calibrated

① Lift the vehicle above the ground and keep it horizontally or vertically still. Press the power button, the ambient lights will turn red, and the vehicle will generate a sound that will last for a while. ② Immediately press and hold the power button until the sound stops and release the button. ③ One second later, press and hold the power button again until a beep is heard. Then the ambient lights will darken from red to orange, which indicates that the vehicle has been calibrated.

The best way to clean a Ninebot by Segway product is with high-pressure air. You can also use fresh water to spray-wash the surface of the vehicle. (Note: Don’t use high-pressure water to spray-wash; it may cause damage). If the plastic surface of your Ninebot by Segway product is scratched, you can use fine sand paper to polish out the scratch.

You’d need to disassemble the tire, remove the decorative cover to reveal three screws then unscrew these and remove the tire (with the nozzle on the inner side). The air pressure for inflation is 10pa ~ 15pa (15 ~ 20PS). A heavy weight indicates a high pressure inflation.

You can keep your Segway PT looking squeaky clean with mild soap and water. Please do not use a pressure washer or a high pressure hose and be sure to keep water away from the charging port. In addition, please note that we do not recommend products that protect and shine rubber, plastic and vinyl surfaces as these products may reduce tire traction and increase the risk of a fall.

Charge the large-capacity lithium batteries fully after every use and frequently when not in use. If you’re not going to use the vehicle for several months, store the battery when it's fully charged and then charge it once a month. For longer periods, store the fully charged battery and vehicle separately and charge the battery once every three to six months. If you store the vehicle when it’s not fully charged; e.g., at 50% capacity, it may discharge excessively within 15 days.

Your authorized Segway dealer/distributor will register your machine(s) for you within 72 hours of purchase. If you have questions regarding your warranty, please contact your local retailer directly.

A standard wall outlet charges a Segway PT's batteries. To fully recharge the batteries from empty requires 8-10 hours. However, your PT may be plugged in to top off its charge at any time.

The Segway PT senses the lean of the rider with the assistance of five micro-machined angular rate sensors and two accelerometers that sense the angle of the Segway PT with respect to gravity at 100 times per second. It balances the rider by applying forces to the ground in the direction of the lean. The Segway PT's LeanSteer technology encourages riders to lean and move from Point A to B. It does so by using the sideways lean measurements of the rider, along with the roll angle of the platform, to generate acceleration. Gently move the handlebar and LeanSteer frame in the direction you want to travel and feel the Segway PT respond.

On a single charge the i2 can support up to 24 miles/38 km of travel, while the x2 can support a trip of up to 12 miles/19 km. Keep in mind that travel distances are dependent on payload, riding style and terrain. In addition, batteries will recharge when traveling down hills. You'll be amazed at just how far the PT can take you.

Each Segway PT is equipped with two operational settings, ‘beginner’ or ‘turtle’ mode and ‘standard’ mode. The beginner setting is set to 6 mph/13 kph and the standard setting is set to travel up to 12.5 mph/20 kph. 12.5 mph is roughly equivalent to a 5-minute mile.

With the standard battery and charger, it takes approximately 2 to 4 hours to full charge the Ninebot by Segway product.

Generally, it takes 1-3 minutes to learn how to ride your Ninebot by Segway product, though the learning curve depends on the person and type of product. For some, it may take several days. For the Ninebot by Segway ONE E+ and ONE S2 the learning process will take longer. When you have purchased a Ninebot by Segway product, it’s important to carefully read the Product Manual and Instructions before riding. If you rent a Ninebot by Segway product, please read the Safety Notice and listen to the coach on scene.

Segway and the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation encourage you to help preserve our environment by returning your unwanted batteries to the nearest hazmat recycling collection point.

There are certain problems you can troubleshoot on your own before contacting your authorized dealer or distributor. Refer to your Manual for details.

① Get to know and comply with local laws and regulations. ② Put on your safety gear, including helmet, knee pads, palm pads, and elbow pads, before driving. ③ Make sure your battery has at least a 60% charge before riding to avoid loss of power while out and about. ④ Make sure nothing is impairing your balance before riding. Please don’t ride after drinking. ⑤ Watch where you’re riding. Be sure to avoid cracks, slopes of more than 20 degrees, holes with a depth of more than 3cm, or any other unsafe driving conditions. ⑥ Pregnant women, patients with heart diseases and anyone who can’t walk up a flight of stairs without assistance should not ride. A Ninebot by Segway product is a one person vehicle, two or more people should never be on the unit at the same time. Finally, children under the age of 14 should only ride a Ninebot by Segway product when accompanied by guardians.

This is a low battery alarm. Stop using the vehicle when the capacity reaches grid 2 or 3 under normal use and charge the battery as soon as possible. The alarm will stop when the battery is fully charged.

The new vehicle should be charged for 2-3 hours for the first charging. Check the indicator status of the charger. The indicator is red during the charging process and will turn green once the vehicle is fully charged.

A Ninebot by Segway product is a popular technological transportation tool and an alternative to walking. A Ninebot by Segway product can complete a 360° rotation and can maneuver in very small spaces unlike an e-bike.

The InfoKey controller is a key and dashboard for your unit. Each is uniquely programmed to start and lock a specific Segway PT. It also provides real-time information on battery life, speed and system performance. In addition, it features a security system to discourage anyone from tampering with the unit should you need to leave it parked. The security function is intended for use when you are in the general area and able to respond to an alarm.

Try using a different phone to connect with the unit. If it still shows the error code 51 then the battery needs to be replaced. If the error code 51 does not show with a different phone then it’s advised to download and install the Ninebot by Segway App again.

Stand behind the Segway PT and lift the back edge of the right floor mat to expose the barcode label. There will be a 12-digit number printed directly on the base of the unit. Be sure to write it down and store it in a safe place.

① If you ride too fast the vehicle will sound the alarm and will lean backwards when decelerating.
② The vehicle has a speed limit set. Check if there's a speed limit button on the display screen of the handle. If there is, press the speed limit button on the right side of the remote control to cancel it. Or lock the vehicle when it's on to see the speed limit displayed on the screen and then you can press the left and right keys on the remote control to adjust the figure - the maximum speed is 20.
③ The vehicle needs to be re-calibrated.
④ The batteries are low.
